First Day of Fall 2026 at Texas State University

The Texas State University campus in San Marcos has just opened the first day of the Fall 2026 semester. After a quiet summer, everything wakes at once: footsteps across The Quad, music from student org booths, the Old Main bell, and thousands of new students finding their classrooms for the first time.

A familiar start that still feels new

With more than 45,000 students — including over 1,500 international students from 93 countries — every fall brings a new set of stories to campus. For international students this is often the first semester away from home: move-in day, international student orientation, the first swipe of a Bobcat Card at the dining hall, and that first Bobcat Shuttle ride to class.

What is waiting this semester

• Welcome week: the student organisation fair on The Quad, where hundreds of groups recruit new members.
• The first game day: Bobcat Stadium in maroon and gold. From 1 July 2026, TXST competes in the Pac-12 Conference.
• The San Marcos River: 22°C year-round, flowing through campus — the place to cool off after day one.
• Academic support: the Writing Center, SLAC and Supplemental Instruction open from week one.
