Planning Your 2027 Recruitment Year with Texas State University

The agencies that perform best in a cycle are the ones that planned it before it began. As the calendar year closes, here is what we recommend authorised partners put in place for 2027.
1. Decide which segments you will actually pursue
Most agencies try to serve every segment and do none of them well. Pick two or three from: school leavers for undergraduate study, transfer students from local universities, graduate applicants with work experience, and English pathway students. Each needs different materials and a different conversation.
2. Book training early
Counsellor turnover is the main cause of misinformation in a market. Schedule a training session with the International Office at the start of the cycle, and a refresher before the peak application period. Sessions can be run online or, in some markets, at your office.
3. Fix your events calendar
- School visits and fairs in your market.
- Joint webinars for students and parents.
- A pre-departure briefing for each intake.
Confirm dates with us before publishing them, so we can plan attendance and provide materials in time.
4. Refresh your materials
Download the current fact sheet, quick guide and logo kit from partner resources at the start of the cycle. Retire last year's slides — every undated figure in circulation eventually becomes a complaint.
5. Set a realistic pipeline target
Work backwards: enrolments needed, offers required, applications required, qualified enquiries required. Then check whether your event calendar plausibly generates that many enquiries. If it does not, the plan needs more activity, not more optimism.
6. Agree how we work together
Make sure your team knows which channel to use for what, who in your organisation owns the relationship, and how escalation works. Keep your portal contact details current so announcements reach the right person.
