New Semester Checklist: 7 Apps Every New Bobcat Should Download

Before classes start there is one small task that makes a big difference: install the university apps. These seven keep you on top of coursework, help you navigate campus, catch the bus on time and keep your account secure.
New semester checklist ✅
📲 TXST Mobile
The university’s hub app: class schedule, campus maps, Bobcat Card balance, news and events. Install this first.
📚 Canvas
The learning management system — where professors post the syllabus, materials, assignments and grades. Turn on notifications so you never miss a deadline.
📧 Outlook
Your student email (@txstate.edu) is the university’s official channel: academic notices, messages from professors, advising appointments. Check it daily.
🎓 Navigate360
Book advising appointments, track your progress toward graduation and get week-by-week reminders of what matters.
🔐 Duo Mobile
Two-factor authentication for your NetID. Required for Canvas, email and the student portal — set it up before you travel so a change of phone number does not lock you out.
🅿️ Park TXST
Manage your parking permit, find open spaces and pay for campus parking. Essential once you start driving.
🚌 ETA Transit
Track the Bobcat Shuttle in real time: where the bus is and how many minutes until it reaches your stop. The most-used app among students without a car.
Tips for international students
- Install Duo Mobile before switching to a U.S. SIM — otherwise recovering access takes time.
- Log into Canvas as soon as you have a NetID to read syllabi and buy or rent the right textbooks.
- Enable TXState Alert notifications for emergency and severe weather warnings.
